As a Customer Assistant at Lidl, no shift is the same and you get out what you put in. Starting at 5am some days to set up the store bakery for the day or finishing at 11pm on others to close the store and ensure the store is ready for another day of customers, you'll keep moving and keep business booming. Every day is different, so you won't just be working deliveries or working on the till; you'll be doing all of it and more. You could even train to be a freshness specialist, non-food specialist or a bakery specialist. It's your hard graft that puts food onto dinner tables and keeps our customers coming back.

Our Customer Assistants work together as a team to ensure their store is clean, tidy and well-ordered so that customers can get the products they love and need. You'll be part of a close-knit team who will soon become friends. Shifts include the weekends, but whether you have family commitments, are studying or have an extraordinary hobby, we make sure our rotas are available 3 weeks in advance so you can get the most out of your days off. £10.75 up to £11.70 per hour* plus an extra £2 per hour while working between 00:00 and 05:00.

Our Customer Assistants work together as a team to ensure their store is clean, tidy and well-stocked so that customers can get the products they love and need. Our stores are open Monday to Sunday so you'll need to be able to work night shifts in the week and at the weekend. You'll put in a shift as part of the team working hard through the night in our busiest stores. You'll check and unpack deliveries, stock our shelves and, make sure the store is ready before the doors open for customers in the morning. Unlike your colleagues working the day shifts you won't be interacting with customers working these shifts, but that doesn't mean the customer experience isn't at the heart of the role.

About the role
We are looking for a Laboratory Technician to join the Quality Team at our site in Milton Keynes.
The successful candidate will be responsible for taking samples according to customer and site requirements from all stages of the production cycle, from raw materials to finished goods. Prioritising a busy workload will be the key to success in this role to ensure that our customer's expectations are met within the agreed time frames.

About you

You will have a passion for food and drink and improving quality systems. Experience gained within a fast moving consumer goods environment would also be beneficial. You will have the ability to maintain housekeeping standards, help drive improvements and build relationships within the wider manufacturing team. 
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 
* Sampling as scheduled at all specific points on raw materials, manufacturing process and finished goods in terms of chemical and microbiological analysis.
* Micro analysis of samples as per specified methods.
* Inform Technical/Production Managers of results outside specification for instigation of corrective actions.
* Observe company health and safety procedures as laid down, and be proactive in ensuring continuance of updating procedures
* Give technical support to the other company departments when required
* Assist Quality Management with implementation of quality systems and project work.
* Ensure that all analytical equipment is maintained and calibrated to the required standards and schedules
* Carry out product sensory panels to meet requirements
* Ensure raw materials & chemicals used within laboratory are within acceptable date criteria.
* Ensure the  quality laboratory operation meets the requirements of external accredited bodies by following procedures carefully
* Support each other within team to provide resource whenever required to resolve problems and prevent customer & consumer complaints
* Arrange service contracts and maintain equipment to high standards
* Order all materials and equipment as required
* Ensure that all quality and food safety checks are carried out satisfactorily
* Ensure that GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) and internal audits are completed on time

Job Description: As Specification Technologist, your key focus will be to ensure that all customer specifications, pack copies and artwork are accurately set up and that all the necessary customer documentation is produced to meet critical path timescales and launch deadlines.

The role of Specification Technologist is quite varied and no two days are the same. You could be working on a new product range or making changes to existing ranges, so developing a key understanding of products will be essential. You will be responsible for reviewing copy artwork to ensure that the pack information is accurate and also in line with customer technical labelling policies, so you’ll understand the importance of getting things right first time.

You will also get involved in reviewing raw material specification content to develop ‘Gold Standard’ specifications for each raw material in order to improve compliance.

What we’re looking for
Experience of working within a similar role within food manufacturing and have knowledge of writing specifications for retailers. 
Strong communication and influencing skills and be comfortable in dealing with a wide range of people at all levels.
Someone comfortable managing multiple tasks and delivering results against tight deadlines. 
Talent to analyse information alongside the ability to transfer the data accurately and clearly within reports.
Someone who has completed your Food Safety and Health and Safety at Level 2. 
Good understanding of specifications system and be computer literate to a strong level.
Ideally experienced in M&S FIND system & sandwiches
Very good attention to details
Sound Legal labelling knowledge/ experience including FIR
Experience in retail specification writing
Must be able to multitask, time mange and be accountable for managing their workload with capacity to write up to 2 specs (from scratch) per day
